Car Carpet - Smelly car

I am not sure if I mentioned but the interior of the car is very bad and in fact it smells. The reason is that the car had a leak into the car and the carpets were pulled out.  I pulled them out and they are smelly dirty and discoloured. So the first thing they need is a good clean.
Then  as some of the carpets are faded I think I will use a

Brakes 101

Lets face it, it is very important to be able to stop a car when it is in motion from time to time. My car currently does not run and even if it could cannot stop as the brakes don't work. So let start at the very begining.

I check the out put from the master cylinder where it meet the servo brake cylinder all good.

Next I check the output from the brake cylinder. I skipped the branch union and checked the input to the caliper no problem there so I removed the caliper.

As you can see the rubber boots are all cracked and in bad condition so I will need to rebuild the brake calipers. I bought a rebuild kit from Rock Auto which has now arrived. Getting the piston out will be fun.

Well I managed eventually to gett all the cylinders out of one of the calipers. I also manged to damage my tire inflator and had to buy a compressor at a yard sale for $75.

Well after breaking down one caliper I check and cleaned up the pistons. It looks like I will need to replace them. The pitting on the large cylinder is to bad and the smaller ones are usable but not great. I will bite the bullet and buy a kit with cylinders.

Front bumper rubber mount

My rubber bumper mount came yesterday. Which I got from Vintage Import Parts. Looks good and very easy to mount. Just wrapped the rubber around it and screwed on thorught the bumpers.

Of course I had to check the one that aready on there and guess what it's just glued on????  Looks like I need another mount.

Ok I found the above you tube video about how to convert a standard air filter to accept a K & N air filter. I had thought about doing something like this but decide to go the easire route and just buy replacment filter. However I now have the opportunity to modify the old ones.

Update I just purchased on ebay 2 Air filters for $10+ 9.95 shipping which should fit, I hope.

Getting the engine to start part 6 - Carb Rebuild

Well the car still will not start and I can only now assume it beacuse of the crabs. The carbs has fuel but its not getting to the engine. The cars starts for a bit if I squirt a bit of fuel in the carbs so maybe is the floats not set correctly.
